Analysis and quality control of lipid-based formulations, e.g. mRNA vaccines, by HPTLC

The global fight against the COVID 19 pandemic has moved mRNA vaccines on the center stage. The mRNA technology utilizes lipid-based formulations as a drug delivery system. To protect the fragile mRNA molecules from degradation, they are commonly encapsulated in liposomes or lipid nanoparticles.

CAMAG has released an application note on the analysis and quality control of lipid-based formulations by HPTLC. This methodology demonstrates an efficient approach for identification and stability testing of lipids and lipid-based formulations.

The CBS 127 is now available!

The latest issue of the CAMAG Bibliography Service features applications from various fields:

  • High-throughput analysis of aroma precursors in cocoa and coffee
  • Fabry-related biomarkers in human plasma
  • Parallel detection of estrogenic and androgenic activity
  • Use of quantified Reference Extracts for herbal materials

Release of the CBS 126

The special issue features applications from the field of food:

Webinar: The Concept of Fully Automated HPTLC Analysis on the Example of Sugars in Honey

21 April 2021 | 10am EDT | 9am CDT | 3pm BST | 4pm CEST

Event Overview

High-Performance Thin-Layer Chromatography (HPTLC) is the method of choice for the analysis of complex and variable samples. Conventionally, manual user intervention is necessary between each step of the HPTLC workflow. With the CAMAG HPTLC PRO System, the era of full automation throughout the entire workflow begins. In this webinar, Dr. Melanie Broszat, Scientific Business Development Manager at CAMAG, demonstrates the power of this revolutionary system based on polysaccharide content of honey samples representing the field of sugar analysis by HPTLC.

Key Learning Objectives

  • Extend your knowledge about HPTLC and explore the performance of the fully automated HPTLC PRO System
  • Learn how several analytical tasks such as quantification, identification and bioactivity screening of analytes can be fulfilled with a single system
  • Get evidence that HPTLC is the method of choice in quantitative analysis of complex samples, featuring faster analysis and reduced costs per sample

Who Should Watch

  • Analysts performing routine QC interested in a costeffective, straight-forward separation technique
  • Decision-makers and opinion leaders in the field of analytical chemistry
  • Laboratory specialists interested in HPTLC applications

Webinar: HPTLC PRO SYSTEM – CAMAG’s new approach to automated quality control

14 December 2020 | 15:30 GMT / 10:30 EST / 07:30 PST / 16:30 CET

As an excellent alternative to GC and HPLC, high-performance thin-layer chromatography (HPTLC) is the method of choice for the analysis of complex and variable samples. HPTLC has proven its value as a reliable quantitative analysis technique for the quality assurance of herbal medicines and dietary supplements, food, pharmaceuticals, cosmetics and many other industrial products.

The HPTLC process consists of four major steps: application, development, derivatization, and detection. Historically, manual intervention was required between each step of the HPTLC process. In this webinar, Dr. Melanie Broszat, Scientific Business Development Manager at CAMAG, will introduce the HPTLC PRO, a fully automated HPTLC sample analysis and evaluation system launched in 2019. Dr. Broszat will present the key applications of the system for routine quality control across multiple disciplines and provide information on the freely available sources of related methods. Current and future trends in HPTLC will also be discussed, as well as the role CAMAG plays in this rapidly accelerating field.

Key learning objectives

  • Extend your knowledge about HPTLC and get acquainted with the newest trends in HPTLC instrumentation
  • Explore the next level of HPTLC (automation and high reproducibility)
  • Get access to available data to perform HPTLC
  • Gain insight into the future of detection tools and their evaluation

Who should attend?

  • Analysts performing routine QC interested in a cost-effective, alternative separation technique
  • Decision-makers and opinion leaders in the field of analytical chemistry
  • Specialists interested in HPTLC applications

Release of the CBS 125

The latest issue features applications from the fields of food, herbal drugs, environmental, and cosmetics:

  • Characterization of E472 food emulsifiers by HPTLC fingerprints
  • HPTLC fingerprinting of herbal drugs used in gemmotherapy
  • Evolution of plant defense compounds in the plant-litter continuum
  • Screening for natural cosmetic preservatives by HPTLC-EDA
  • Comparison of yeast estrogen screening on HPTLC and in microtiter plates

End of Support for winCATS

Dear valued distributor

In January 2018, CAMAG informed about the end of support for all winCATS versions before 1.4.10. In order to best support our valued customers, CAMAG went on providing winCATS version 1.4.10, winCATS CDs, winCATS updates and EquiLink files.

CAMAG now announces the end of support for all winCATS versions, including version 1.4.10 for the end of 2020.

What does end of support mean?

winCATS is approaching the end of its support lifecycle. This means that as of 1 January 2021, there will be:

  • No new winCATS CDs available
  • No replacement winCATS CDs available
  • No winCATS update available
  • No winCATS EquiLinks available
  • No technical support available

What should you/your customer do?

CAMAG strongly recommends to proactively approach your winCATS customers. Your customers have several options:

  1. Update to visionCATS latest version (last call)
For all customers in a controlled environment a must to assure data security and integrity (check compatibility of instruments).
  2. Update to winCATS version 1.4.10 before 2021
Brings the winCATS installation to the last winCATS version. This is not recommended as the system is not supported and not protected anymore (check compatibility of instruments).
  3. Remain on the present winCATS version below 1.4.10
No support and no update to version 1.4.10 as of 1.1.2021

Customers can test visionCATS 60 days for free, download under www.camag.com/visioncats.

If you have further questions, do not hesitate to contact us under support@camag.com.
